After an investigation, police have seized guns, ammo and body armour from a 26-year-old man in the Mooney’s Bay area. The man has been arrested and charged. The search of his home took place Monday when the suspect was inside the home. A long list of charges has been laid.
National
Ahead of flu season, the Ontario government says it will be spending $90 million to fund 1,100 hospital beds including 640 new ones. The previous Liberal government gave $100 million last October ahead of flu season. NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says this is still falling short and says $300 million is what is really needed to address hospital overcrowding.
International
Seven officers were shot, including one fatally in a confrontation that took place in South Carolina. The suspect had children held hostage in his home and was at an advantage over officers in the shootout. The injured officers were not immediately able to retrieved and an armoured vehicle had been used to retrieve them. After a two-hour standoff, the suspect was arrested and the children were recovered safely.
