Ottawa breweries are joining together to create a beer advent calendar that began selling on Oct. 1 and will be available for delivery in November.
The project is being led by Nita Brewing Co. and will feature 12 other breweries in the city. The package will resemble a regular advent calendar designed to be opened once a day from Dec. 1-24 and will include 473-ml beers.
Andy Nita, the owner of Nita Brewing Co., says this is a way to showcase the collaborative nature of Ottawa breweries.

Aung San Suu Kyi, the de factor leader of Myanmar, has been formerly stripped of her honorary Canadian citizenship following a vote from Senate on Oct. 2.
The honour was given to the leader in 2007 and she is the first to have it revoked following her role in the human rights violations against the Rohingya people of Myanmar.
MP’s had a unanimous vote to revoke the citizenship last week, but the Senate vote was required to make it official.
While senators don’t feel like this decision will be of great significance to Suu Kyi, they wanted to send the message that Canada will always stand up for human rights and will show no support to those who are accomplices to genocide.

Weeks after Hurricane Florence left devastation in North Carolina, citizens are dealing with an infestation of Psorophora ciliate, a type of aggressive mosquito that are roughly the size of a nickel.
The flooding caused by the storm on Sept. 14 has created the perfect breeding ground for this mosquito and as they swarm neighbourhoods, residents are expressing their frustration.
While officials say that these insects don’t pose a health risk to humans, their bite is said to be quite painful.
As of Oct. 1, the city was already starting to spray insecticide to kill off the bugs as part of the US$4 million relief efforts.
