Ottawa Senators forward Zack Smith suffered a facial fracture in Friday’s loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Smith suffered the injury in the second period after taking a skate to the face.

Senators head coach described the injury as “serious” following the game and Smith will be flying to Ottawa for treatment. Smith’s return is unknown.

An Edmonton sports agent whose company represents CFL players across the country is being shamed on Twitter for a post of himself with blackface wearing a prison costume.

Jason Staroszik posted the picture as a story on his Instagram account Thursday night showing a man in blackface wearing an orange prisoner jumpsuit and flashing the “blood” gang sign. Staroszik said the picture was from 2013 and that “The costume was intended to push the limits of what is socially acceptable but still be in good fun, without harming or offending anyone.”

The head of Pittsburgh’s public safety department says Saturday’s shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue will be investigated by the FBI as a “hate crime” after the gunman killed 11 people and injured at least six, including four police officers. This attack happened during a Sabbath religious service, local authorities and media reported.

Donald Trump responded by saying such shooters should receive the death penalty and “suffer the ultimate price.
