Missing 11-year-old, Nakayla Baskin, was found safe in Ottawa’s east end Wednesday morning. Police had been searching for Baskin more than two weeks after her family reported her missing on Sept. 25. More information to come in the following days.

Maxime Bernier, Quebec MP and runner-up in the 2017 Conservative leadership race, has filed paperwork for a new political party on Wednesday. The People’s Party of Canada was formed after the MP left the Conservative party, claiming it is a “morally and intellectually corrupt” party. The PPC advocates for smaller government, ending Canada’s supply management system, and reducing immigration to Canada.

Hurricane Michael is moving inland towards Georgia after devastating Florida on Wednesday, leaving one man dead and nearly 500,000 without power. The hurricane hit Mexico Beach, Florida as a Category 4 storm in the afternoon, tearing through homes and businesses before making its way through southwestern Georgia. Michael has now been downgraded to a Category 1 storm.
