Mac Miller delighted fans at the Algonquin Theatre, as he brought the stage of the recently opened building to life. Making their finals stop of the tour, Miller and friends left their all on stage.
Performing all the hits that have endeared him so to the college crowd, Miller was lively on stage from the start. He had no problem getting the crowd involved early after asking audience members for a flat brim ball cap, his signature, a request quickly granted by them.
“It was a great show, he really knows how to put on a show, do what he does best,” said firstyear Bryan McWhirter,
Miller is in his element performing for students. His lyrical content has resonated with the student demographic, helping propel him to the main stream in no time. Just a couple years removed from high school himself, the receptive crowd enjoyed Miller’s sense of humour between songs.
Representing Pittsburgh, PA, a common theme in his music, Miller was happily preceded on stage by good friends, fellow Pittsburgh resident and record label mates The Come Up. The group consists of Vinny Radio and Franchise, with similar party-themed lyrics to their friend.
“The stuff up here, the fans up here, it’s so much fan, coming all the way from Pittsburgh,” The Come Up’s Vinny Radio explained on playing up north. “We didn’t know what to expect, but the northern atmosphere is so great.”
The Come Up relish playing in front of a college audience, while playing with good friend Mac Miller doesn’t hurt. “College crowds are a little different, but we love it, it’s been great.”
The addition of the Algonquin Theatre will give students another opportunity to see shows and performances, as Miller demonstrated with his energetic and appealing show.
