Despite a lack of students in the audience, the Caverners visit to the Commons Theatre on Oct. 24 drew a crowd.
The Caverners, a Beatles cover band, have been performing for 20 years. Much like the Beatles, the band has a dedicated following made up largely of the Beatles original fans who were in attendance at the event.
Costumes, Liverpudlian accents and the members even calling each other by the Beatles names makes the show as authentic to the band they honour as possible.
Performing hits all the way from A Hard Day’s Night to Yellow Submarine right on down to Across the Universe, the Beatle’s anthology was presented in the two hour long show.
“We find Ottawa is a great Beatles town and our performances over the years there have always been met with very enthusiastic audiences,” said Vine.

Audience members were very happy with the show, dancing in the aisles throughout.
At one point during the night, Vine brought the audience’s attention to the events in Ottawa just two days before.
“I’m glad you guys have come out tonight and tried to enjoy yourself despite everything,” he said.
He sang the classic Yesterday with the fitting lyrics bringing a somber mood.
That sadness didn’t last long as things picked right back up as they continued to sing more peppy classics.
After a costume change in which the John Lennon character, played by Michael Wainwright, came out in an all-white suit and a long wig, a fan in the audience gave him some light-hearted heckling to the response of, “Thanks Dad!”
Later during a performance of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, Vine gave a new meaning to the lyrics.
“When we sing ‘bra!’ we need all you ladies to throw up your bras,” he explained. “We’re not fussy or nothing, big or small. Whatever you’ve got.”
Finally to end the night, the band performed Hey Jude and an encore was demanded. The band returned to the stage one last time to perform Rock and Roll Music which had the whole audience dancing and cheering.
