The Thunder women’s volleyball team took a win against the Georgian Grizzlies on Nov. 2 in their first home game of the season.

Thunder dominated the Grizzlies, winning 3-0.

“We were able to get everybody in for some court time which was, well, goal number one was to win but goal number two was to get everyone in for the home opener so I’m happy we were able to accomplish that,” said Coach Everton Senior. “I think it was a good home opener for us.”

While it was a great game overall, there were some errors made over the duration of the match. Consistency is the name of the game and Thunder was somewhat lacking in this regard.

“We’re still trying to polish the apple, so there’s a whole lot of errors that are being made but this was a good match where you can almost afford some errors and still be able to work on things to get that,” said Senior. “Consistency of our attack, consistency of our servicing is not where we want it to be. It’s up and down. In the third set there we had some people in off the bench. They’re very capable passers but it might be just the nervousness of the moment. So we want to be more consistent all around.”

Coach Senior says that the team was disappointed by the two losses in the first two games of the season, but that they are looking forward to replaying those teams again later on.
