Thunder Women's Tatiana Weissflog spikes ball against Centennial Colts during game on Nov. 24

The Algonquin women’s volleyball team won three straight sets against Centennial College on Nov. 24.

According to Coach Everton Senior, there were two important factors which led to the Thunder’s victory.

“We served really well and we passed really well,” said Senior. “Once you do those two things we’re going to be pretty tough to beat.”

The Thunder came out strong at the beginning of all three sets, but struggled against the momentum of Centennial in the second set. However, the Thunder was able to rally and win the second set through teamwork and discipline.

“Our season is getting better and we are getting better as we go along,” said Senior. “Today was a culmination of our hard work and hopefully that will springboard us into next semester.”

The Thunder women’s volleyball team lost their first two games of the season but they currently sit at six-game winning streak. Senior hopes that the streak will continue.

“Personally I would like to go undefeated the rest of the season,” he added. “I think if we continue to play like today then I think we can do that.”

Next game on the schedule will be another home game against Seneca College on Dec. 1. It will be the last game of the semester before the season resumes on Jan. 11.
