Ottawa Police Service reported a break-and-enter burglary on Sept. 22. A Deerfield Drive home was entered at around 4 a.m. and various electronics — including a TV and multiple phones — were taken.
MAN FOUND UNCONSCIOUS ON CAMPUS GROUNDS
College security received multiple reports on Sept. 5 of an unidentified man found unconscious on campus grounds. Security assessed the man and he was transported to the Ottawa Hospital by EMS. Students should be aware that all campus security personnel are trained in first aid and can be approached in case of an emergency.
BACKPACK STOLEN
A student reported on Sept. 6 that his backpack had been stolen from an unattended classroom. Security would like to remind students to never leave their possessions unattended.
ATTEMPTED ENTRY STOPPED
On Sept. 8 security stopped two non-residents attempting to enter residence buildings. All non-Algonquin visitors should be signed in at the front desk by a student who lives at residence.
STUDENTS DRINKING IN PUBLIC
On Sept. 4 campus security observed two students with open containers in a public area. Students were asked to dispose of the alcohol.
VAPING RESTRICTIONS SAME AS SMOKING
On Sept. 15 security responded to a fire alarm resulting from a vaporizer being used indoors. Security reminds all students that using a vaporizer outside of designated smoking zones is prohibited by college policy HS10.
