A physical therapy centre that opened at Algonquin in September has received warm welcomes and support from the college community.

Pro Physio is located in E-building across from the Mamidosewin Centre. It’s the 28th Pro Physio to open in Ottawa, making it the largest physical therapy business in the city.

“It’s been a very warm welcome from the community, staff and students,” said Kim Wright, the manager at the Algonquin location.

Wright said she hasn’t seen any sort of trend in the kinds of patients or injuries from the college community.

“It’s a mix of staff and students from a variety of different faculties,” said Wright.

“Generally we see a lot of sprains and strains, things that build up over time.”

Hoda Basenyos, who works the front desk at Pro Physio Algonquin, said the centre offers a variety of services. These include: rehab exercises, custom orthotics and acupuncture.

Pro Physio Algonquin is even offering placements for students in programs such as massage therapy or physiotherapy assistant so they can get hands on experience, in a familiar place.

Wright said the college location makes it incredibly convenient for students and staff to get the help they need without taking time off work or school.
