Algonquin has been offering discounted Ottawa Senators tickets to student for the 2015-2016 season. The SA hopes to continue this offer next year

The Students’ Association teamed up with the Ottawa Senators to provide tickets at a discount for students so they can make it to a game without breaking the bank.

This has been going on for a few years, but this year had a first.

“This was the first year we sold actual tickets through our box office,” said Baldeep Randhawa, the events programmer for the SA. “It has been a success.”

For $25, Sens Student Night ticket holders get a seat in the 300 level and a free toque.

The price of $25 to see an NHL game is too good for hockey fans to pass up, whether they’re an Ottawa Senators fan or not.

It goes without saying that both parties would probably be happier seeing the crowd filled with Ottawa supporters.

“I think the student Sens night was a great success,” said Riley Evans, a public relations student at Algonquin. “It could have been promoted a little more, but I think it was an excellent move by the organization.”

Unfortunately there aren’t any more Sens Student Nights before the end of the school year, so if you haven’t taken advantage of the discount this year, you’re out of luck for this season. However, there’s no reason to expect it won’t be back next year.

“With the success of the campaign this year, we will definitely be looking to continue offering this discount to our students,” said Randhawa.

Evans is excited for the deal to be renewed next season.

“I am very much looking forward to seeing them again next year,” he said.
