A 20-year old Algonquin College student was taken to hospital early Wednesday afternoon after sustaining an injury playing intramural basketball at the Algonquin gymnasium.
The unnamed male student was bleeding from the chin before being tended to by paramedics. Blood was splattered on the gym floor, and he didn’t appear to be responsive as CPR was performed on him.
It was confirmed by Algonquin’s official Twitter account that the student was revived. François Lalonde, Public Information Officer with the Ottawa Paramedic Service, confirmed that he is now in critical but stable condition.
Algonquin Security Co-ordinator Earl Green was not able to comment on the man’s status, since the incident is still under investigation.
The Times will continue to report details as they become available.
