Brett Kissel fans Lila Driscoll and Olivia Edwards lined up at 3:45 for an 8 pm show to secure their spot in the front of the line where many fans stood waiting.
The two friends had purchased their tickets four months ahead of the Jan. 23 concert as soon as they went on sale. Driscoll, who has been to three previous Kissel concerts, says the song she had hoped to hear the most is “Canadian Kid.”
Edwards had never seen Brett Kissel before in person, but the song she was most excited to hear was “Airwaves.”
They weren’t disappointed.
Kissel took the stage at the sold-out show just after 8 on his Ice, Snow, & 30 below tour in Ottawa, opening with his biggest hit, Airwaves. The audience sang and danced to his music, holding up signs including ‘We love you Brett.’
About two songs into his set, he managed to teach the crowd a new one and had them singing along like it had been released for months.
The Juno-award winning musician told the audience they made him feel like it was a Friday night performance because of its high spirits and energy.
Opening up for Kissel was country singer Abbey Stewart, who surprised the audience with guest Beamer Wigley.
Kissel’s Ice, Snow & 30 Below tour will continue on with sold-out shows across Canada until Feb. 4.
