“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”

At least that’s what Winston Churchill believed.

I believe that the more we change ourselves, the closer we get to becoming who we are supposed to be.

If you’re unhappy, you have the power to change. Whether you’re switching up your daily routine or completely reinventing yourself, change can only help you grow as a person.

I spent most of my life resisting change. I was scared of the unknown that comes with it having no control of the outcome.

Suffering with severe depression made me lose my personality entirely. I wasn’t sure if I was ready to build myself from the ground up. But I knew that I needed to.

In high school I decided that I wasn’t happy with who I was. I discovered new philosophies and new styles. I reinvented myself. My style developed constantly, I adopted new phrases and interests and redefined my values, all in hopes that I would find a life I wanted to lead.

What I discovered was that I didn’t belong to any specific lifestyle, I belonged to myself. Through all my transitions I took bits and pieces to create my own identity.

Some days I rock red lipstick and studs, others I wear harem pants and meditate. I listen to classic rock and classical. I am a collection of every person I’ve encountered and every experience I’ve had, and that has made me who I am.

I change daily, searching for things I haven’t experienced and perspectives I haven’t heard. I will continue to transform. Change is part of being human, it can take you to where you need to be.
